I do not recollect any case where we have sold a lease-hold interest in Hong Kong and I cannot help thinking we are trying to provide for remote contingencies which could be discussed if and when they arise.

If, however, the Colonial Government are anxious to arrive at a clear settlement, we should be glad if they would consider our letter of the 2nd May very carefully and throw some further light on the point mentioned in our third paragraph.
